With the large entry for Classic Superbikes we’ve now moved the 250GP machines to allow them to headline what will be one of the biggest and best 2-stroke race of the year!
We're proud to announce that the winner over the two race weekend will win the Owen McNally 250GP trophy presented by the McNally family and supporters as well as £500 1st prize fund from race sponsor JMC Roofing.
The combined grid for the JMC Roofing GP250 race will now include over a dozen of the fastest GP 250’s, with a quality and truly international field. Last year’s winner and current ACU and German GP250 champion Bobby Varey on his Yamaha TZ250 will be many peoples choice for the top spot on the podium, however Chris Mayer (Germany) and Lachlan Hill(Australia) both on Honda RS250’s will form the international challenge to try to stop him.
Local riders Barry Davidson, Gary McCoy, Christian Elkin, Keith Millen, Alan Dickson, Chris McAloran, Laird Shingleton, Cathal Graham and a raft of southern riders including Karl & Denis Clancey, Thomas Byrne, Thomas Lawlor and Phillip Benson will have other ideas, and will not be hanging around with all aiming to take their share of the £1000 prize money on offer for the top three over the two weekend races
Let’s not forget that there will likely be a terrific scrap for the Classic 250/350GP honours, running concurrently, as our English Friends Richard Peers-jones Steve Boam with local lads Mark Kirkpatrick and Michael Houston will try to get amongst the 250 riders, and here is no doubt that German rider Rajko Wagner on his ex-factory 1976 MZ250 will likely steal the show as the most exotic machine in the race, I don’t expect him to hang around either.
Let’s not forget that there is a 125GP race to be won as well, with young Matt Davidson, seasoned classic racer Nigel Moore, along Kyle Martin, Padraig Graham and the IoM’s Gareth Arnold having their own fun and possibly showing some of the larger machines the fastest lines around Bishopscourt.
Filling the remaining grid spots in what is a large grid will be the cream of the lightweight Supersport 400cc machines, with Mark and Adam Shields squaring up with Darrell Tweed and Chris Gray and Ewan Waddell on his unusual 450 Husqvarna.
This is the 2-stroke race we’ve all been waiting for, and there are strong rumours that some more 250's riders are planning to put in late race entries !! Stay tuned.
