RPJ – Richard Peers-Jones

RPJ – Richard Peers-Jones makes a welcome return to the Classic Bike Festival Ireland where again he will race his TZ350 in the Classic 250/350 GP race.

A seasoned racer and has been racing since 1968 starting his career at Brands Hatch on a shared 650 Norton, moving on to his own a 750 Norton Mettise, however it was the 70’s that saw RPJ racing 2-strokes when he bought an ex-Barry Sheene Suzuki 500 then moving on Yamaha TZ350’s on which he campaigned to great success in ’79.

The 80s saw the start of trips to Mondello Park, Dublin, then off to the continent to race in FII and other adventures as far afield as India as well as racing in England. When the 350 class ended a 250 was bought competing against the 600 class of the day. But the end of 2-stroke racing was in sight as was the end of his racing career.

However…. Richard got back in the saddle in the 00’s for the new ICGP series winning the masters series three times, then when not racing in Europe success was also to be found for him at the Phillip Island Classic.

Post Covid Richard is still racing, still not retired and travelling to races across Europe and we are pleased to see his return to Bishopscourt.
